The Cost of the "Eco" in Ecojunk

The short-term cost to you is well worth both the immediate and long-term results.

We take a dim view of operators and unlicensed freelancers who landfill or fly tip as standard practice. Our charges represent the real cost of correctly processing the items we take. We, in turn, use specialist companies who deal with specific types of junk we encounter and we pay them for their services.

Although overall there is an impact on price from our efforts to 'Eco' our operation it is, perhaps surprisingly, very reasonable. Over time, with more specialist processing facilities opening within our operating areas, (the need to reduce environmental harm is creating the demand) the impact on price should reduce further. Ecojunk is ideally placed to encourage and support these initiatives where we are not already. As we expand we hope to be able to accelerate this process and create real impact on both the reuse and recycling marketplace as well as standard disposal routes.

We are still not able to achieve the results we would like to and we must be realistic about where to focus our energy. The infrastructure of facilities, Government directives, general know-how, will-power and environmental awareness is/are not yet in place, mostly due to the scale of the problem. This means that some key areas will remain where the cost of achieving better results is prohibitive for the foreseeable future. A proportion of everything we collect does still end up at licensed waste transfer stations that focus their efforts on avoiding landfill by separating the recyclable materials but even the best of these has clear room for improvement. Unfortunately, by necessity, a (lesser) proportion does occasionally enter the usual waste process.

Our task is to balance the provision of a valuable high-standard service to you, that is competitive in price whether or not you are as eco-minded as Ecojunk, whilst all the time improving the results we achieve from our efforts to minimise environmental harm.
